Titanium Turning

Trace-A-Matic specializes in turning titanium parts and assemblies using cutting-edge CNC lathes, 5-axis machining centers, and high-speed machining operations. Years of experience provide expert knowledge of cutting a wide range of titanium alloys, their characteristics, and how this material group reacts when machined. Tool selection, depth of cuts, lathe speed and feed, chip control, and high-pressure coolant is critical in controlling heat generation, which can cause turned part movement and tool deflection during the machining process. This level of skill ensures world-class precision machining that meets or exceeds the most demanding tolerances. The innovative Trace-A-Matic team is always available to review your machining parts and guide you during the design process. Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction, providing AS 9100/ISO 9001:2015 certified quality machining resulting in timely turnaround and on-time delivery.

Titanium Turning

Ti Melting Point
3,038°F

Titanium Characteristics:
  • High strength to weight ratio
  • Exceptional resistance to corrosion
  • Very flexible
  • Non-toxic and non-allergenic
  • Ti 6al-4v grade titanium is commonly used in the medical industry

Trace-A-Matic is highly skilled at titanium CNC machining and its alloys. Titanium can be difficult to machine, and work hardening may occur with too much heat generated during the machining process. Some grades produce small chips when machined, also referred to as free machining. The proper production processes, cutting tool geometry and tool material, feed rate, cutting speeds, chip evacuation, and cutting force are essential to reduce heat and tool deflection. Resulting in precision machined parts to the desired surface finish.

Workpiece Materials Types: castings, forgings, fabricated weldments, and bar stock
